Wintegra Selected for LTE Base Station

WinPath processor at heart of next-generation base station

Barcelona, Spain, February 10, 2010.  Kyocera, a major provider of telecommunications equipment, has chosen Wintegra's WinPath packet processor and LTE software as the primary controller for its next generation eNodeB family of LTE base stations.  This processor provides the optimal mix of performance and low power consumption for Kyocera's micro and macro base station offerings.   Kyocera's prototype LTE products, including the Wintegra silicon and software, will be shown at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (15-18 February, 2010).

"Wintegra's WinPath devices were a superb solution for our eNodeB system," said Mr. Junichi Jinno, Executive Officer, General Manager, Corporate R&D Group for Equipment and Systems at Kyocera.  "We needed low-power, low-latency, high-performance processors, with all required integrated I/O connectivity plus the right level of design support to achieve a fast time to market for the rapidly expanding LTE base station marketplace, and Wintegra has supplied all of these."

For LTE base stations, WinPath hardware is coupled with Wintegra-supplied LTE software to provide high-performance eNodeB solutions.

Kyocera is targeting its new WinPath-based system as a 3GPP LTE standards-compliant, single-unit base station.  It offers compact size, is lightweight and is very power efficient.  This design reduces CAPEX (capital expenses) as well as OPEX (operating expenses). Kyocera is providing more information of its next generation eNodeB on its Web site: http://global.kyocera.com/prdct/telecom/office/lte/index.html .

"Kyocera's choice of the WinPath processor for its LTE eNodeB base station is an important validation of our approach to providing integrated silicon and software solutions for 4G technologies," said Michael Phillip, Sr. VP and general manager of Wintegra's Wireless Division.  "Kyocera is bringing a lot of innovation to the LTE market and we are very pleased to be working with them."

Wintegra is attending Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from the 15th to the 18th of February.  Wintegra will be present in Hall 3.1, Suite 100.
