Wintegra’s UFE3 Provides Network Equipment Technologies an Advanced PWE3 Solution

Network Equipment Technologies will utilize Wintegra's highly channelized Universal Front End (UFE3) core in next generation multi-service platform

Austin, TX, August 31, 2009.   Wintegra, a market leader in access processing semiconductors and Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET," NASDAQ: NWK) announced today that Wintegra's WinPath and UFE3 have been selected for NET's next generation multi-service product line.  The UFE3 IP core, in combination with Wintegra's WinPath technology, provides a market leading, high channel density Pseudo Wire Emulation Edge-to-Edge (PWE3) solution, key to NET's system.

PWE3 allows the transport mechanism of synchronous circuits such as T1/E1/T3/E3 over packet switched networks such as Ethernet or MPLS.  Wintegra's UFE3 core and WinPath2 together provide for a large number of T1/E1 circuits, up to 336 T1s and 8064 pseudo-wires, the highest density available in the market.

The UFE3 IP core supports a wide range of L2 protocols including Circuit Emulation, HDLC and ATM.  It also incorporates state-of-the-art clock recovery support for wireless backhaul as well as wireline applications. The UFE3 IP core can be customized and synthesized to the FPGA device of a customer's choice, allowing the maximum flexibility.

"Network Equipment Technologies has been on the forefront of providing convergent media platforms that merge disparate traffic types onto single transport networks," says Talbot Harty, Chief Development Officer of Network Equipment Technologies.  "Wintegra's PWE3 solution was a great fit for our next generation multi-service platform."

"We are excited to be working with NET and that our technology can strengthen and expand their product offerings and capabilities," said Mike Bianco, VP Strategic Accounts at Wintegra.  "Wintegra continues to expand its multi-service technology offerings and provide our customers market leading solutions."
