Wintegra Gains Momentum as Carrier Ethernet Provider
Wintegra announces Overture Networks in production with its highly channelized Universal Front End (UFE3) core
Austin, TX, July 20, 2009. Wintegra, a market leader in access processing semiconductors announced today that Overture Networks, the industry's preferred Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation partner, is shipping their ISG 6000 family of products utilizing the UFE3 core. The UFE3 core, in combination with Wintegra's WinPath technology, extends Wintegra's channelized solutions to extend from 16 T1/E1 up to highly channelized OC3 and OC12 rates.
Carrier Ethernet is the technology of choice to provide a bandwidth migration path from traditional TDM to newer all-IP networks. As an example, with advanced solutions from Overture Networks and Wintegra, Carriers can extend their Carrier Ethernet services over TDM networks to customer sites.
"Overture Networks is a leader in transforming traditional TDM and copper based networks to Carrier Ethernet solutions for business services and mobile backhaul," says Prayson Pate, VP of Engineering at Overture Networks. "Wintegra has one of the most cost effective, highest channel density solutions available with their UFE3 and WinPath solution. They have been instrumental in getting this product line to market."
"The UFE3 has become the solution of choice for high density copper to Carrier Ethernet transitions," said Liviu Pinchas, Director of Technical Marketing at Wintegra. "Overture Networks is a great example of the type of company offering market leading solutions for this emerging marketplace."
The UFE3 enables a fully channelized application running any protocol including PWE3 (Pseudo Wire End to End Emulation), MC/ML-PPP (Multi-Class Multi-Link PPP), IMA (Inverse Multiplexing over ATM), and MFR (Multilink Frame Relay). The UFE3 also incorporates the state-of-the-art clock recovery support for applications where accurate timing and synchronization are critical such as cellular infrastructure systems.
