ZyXEL and Wintegra Announce ATM Bonding DSL Solution
Bonding support doubles DSL performance or increases loop length with simple provisioning using legacy copper
Austin, Texas, October 11, 2007 - Wintegra, a market leader in access processing semiconductors announced today that ZyXEL's new G.SHDSL solution platforms, including the IES-708 and SAM1216 modules for their popular IES-1000 mini-DSLAM system and the SLC1248 module for the IES-5000/6000 chassis series DSLAM are based on Wintegra WinPath processors that now support ATM bonding. ZyXEL Communications Corporation (TSE:2391), a world leading broadband access solution provider, announced these products at the Broadband World Forum show in Berlin, Germany.
ZyXEL's DSLAM family provides an innovative market leading mix of DSLAM solutions with several products being based on Wintegra's WinPath processors and software. With WinPath, ZyXEL has added ATM bonding (officially known as G.Bond) to their broad suite of available DSL protocols. ATM G.Bond uses additional copper pairs to provide more DSL bandwidth at the same loop length, or provides significant loop length improvements at the same bandwidth. With this technology, providers can rapidly deploy higher bandwidth services via simple provisioning. WinPath processors are also capable of supporting ADSL/ADSL2+ and VDSL2 line technologies at maximum rates and include market leading production quality datapath software, such as VLAN, Bridging, and Multicast. The WinPath software set is RAM based which simplifies code upgrades or reconfiguring customer services, and is royalty free.
"Wintegra has been a strong partner for many of our DSLAM products," said Dr. P. C. Lee, VP of the Telco/ISP COE Business Unit at ZyXEL. We've been pleased by their continual addition of new features plus their support has been very helpful in getting our products to market quickly."
"ZyXEL is a market leader due to their rapid adoption of advanced DSL technologies," said Arnon Mordoh, Vice President, and General Manager of Wireline Systems at Wintegra. "We're glad to assist in their pursuit of market leading technologies."
