Wintegra Introduces Second Generation DSL Silicon & Software Solution

WinArrow2 offers software compatibility and increased performance to support high end ADSL2+ and VDSL2 applications while simultaneously reducing BOM costs

Austin, Texas, USA - April 30, 2007 - WintegraTM, the fabless semiconductor company enabling the next generation of access networks announced today the availability of its new WinArrow2 IP-DSLAM processor and software solution.  The WinArrow2 family is software compatible with the previous generation of WinArrow devices, enabling Wintegra's existing customers to quickly take advantage of the benefits offered by the new product line.

The entry level product in the WinArrow2 family offers equivalent performance to the previous generation, while significantly reducing the system BOM (Bill of Materials).  This is achieved by providing many optimizations, including high speed DDR-2 interfaces.  Higher performance devices are also available, delivering more than twice the performance of the existing product line.  These parts can support sustained throughput in excess of 3 Gigabit per seconds.  To utilize this increase, the backhaul connectivity has been doubled to 4 Gigabit ports.  Based on the latest standards, it is possible to achieve the data rates required in high-end ADSL2+ and/or VDSL2 line cards.

Wintegra's WinArrow2 runs the same software suite as the existing WinArrow solution which comprises of the essential building blocks for IP DSLAMs.  The data path software and control plane stacks are supplied by Wintegra. The WinArrow2 software suite supports the features required by the DSL forum's TR-101 specification, the standard for DSL access nodes, such as VLAN Bridging and Multicast.  This dramatically reduces the development cycle to complete a TR-101 compliant system.

Wintegra's WinArrow2 solution includes production quality DSL datapath software. This is the same royalty-free software that has been used without modification by Wintegra's existing customers in production systems over the last five years.

To provide a turn-key IP-DSLAM solution, a full Linux based Control Path software package is available, Wintegra Linux Services (WLS).  Code modules include STP, TCP/IP, DHCP, IGMP and many others.  Existing Wintegra customers can take advantage of the WinArrow2 while retaining their existing WLS based application code, thus enabling vendors to offer operational systems to their end customers within three months.

Wintegra's General Manager of Wireline Access, Arnon Mordoh stated "The latest iteration of our WLS software supports common application code for both WinArrow1 and WinArrow2 designs.  This allows our current customers to gain an immediate benefit from the latest devices while retaining years of code development on existing cards."

WinArrow2 devices are capable of supporting ADSL/ADSL2+, SHDSL, and VDSL/VDSL2+ for high throughput IP-DSLAMs.  These processors integrate enhanced UTOPIA and POS interfaces with extended addressing capabilities for connections to any DSL PHY and have multiple on-board Gigabit Ethernet interfaces required for IP DSLAMs.

WinArrow2 devices and the associated software are shipping in volume today.
