Wintegra Announces 25 Design Wins for WinPath Access Packet Processor in Leading Networking Markets

Austin, Texas, USA - May 8, 2002 - WintegraTM, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company enabling the next generation of access networks, announced that it has secured 25 design wins that will lead volume production of its WinPathTM access packet processor family.  The design wins are for revenue-generating products, with the majority representing committed volume by established communications and network equipment OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for devices slated to go into production in 2H02 and early 2003. Wintegra customers include a range of companies in North America, Europe and Asia, including top tier or "Tier 1" players - those companies whose names are recognized in the industry as leaders in their field. The design wins span across Wintegra's three areas of expertise: wireline access, wireless infrastructure, and voice over packet and include  "Tier 1" designs in each area. Products in those areas include equipment such as DSLAM's, wireless base stations and radio network controllers, enterprise and infrastructure media gateways, access switches, and enterprise integrated access devices.

Wintegra has already made public customer announcements, including Interphase, CES, and RAD Data Communications; as well as a reference design with its partner and strategic investor, Texas Instruments. More WinPath-based products will be announced later this year.

The company introduced its first WinPath processors in November 2001, noted by industry analysts as the first and only chip of its kind for incorporating the best aspects of network and communications processors and blending them into a single-chip solution. Its low power consumption makes it ideal for the high integration required in next generation devices as equipment makers strive to incorporate more features in their designs without sacrificing performance or increasing power consumption. The chip also offers unprecedented flexibility by being "ready-to-use," with over 18 resident protocols for fast design-in and critical time-to-market, yet is programmable for customized designs.

"Wintegra set attainable yet aggressive business goals based on our confidence in a highly skilled team, and customers who communicated a real need for a novel solution such as WinPath," said Kobi Ben-Zvi, CEO of Wintegra. "The 25 design wins in such a short timeframe demonstrate that there is a large and growing market for this Hardware/Software approach and we have a proven solution that is available to take advantage of that growth."
